Need For Speed Heat seems like it was overlooked and had a bit of a silent release Posted: 06 Jan 2020 08:40 AM PST This series usually has more or a marketing push behind it and Heat seems like it had a silent release. Considering the frustration with the last two NFS games I think Heat deserves WAY more attention! I put a few hours into it and it is an absolute blast and kinda underrated! [link] [comments]

Some ideas to improve the playability and longevity of the game (LONG) Posted: 06 Jan 2020 01:00 PM PST I've been playing Heat for a about a month now, and I've really been enjoying myself. But it's clear to me that as the game stands now, it's going to lose its playerbase. So I've come up with a list of things that I feel would improve the game. This is my opinion only, but I know there are some shared views here. I don't expect everything I say to be popular. That's the nature of opinions ¯_(ツ)_/¯ This is a lengthy list, so be prepared for a long read. In fact, this may need to be split up if necessary. CARS Let's start with the main thing we play NFS for, the cars. There's no guarantee of Toyota returning, so I'm not mentioning them. Currently, I feel there is a lack of 240+mph hypercars available. To my knowledge, no other car in the game can reach 240mph as standard, meaning there is some room here for extra.. Sure, we have the Regera, but I personally hate the thing for various reasons. So if Ghost has a Koenigsegg licence, surely they can get another one, like the fantastic One:1. Hell, I'd settle for a CCX, as long as it isn't a Regera. Another licence Ghost has is McLaren. Get the classic F1 in the game, the only McLaren roadcar I really care about. And speaking McLaren, it may not be 240mph hypercar, but the Senna would be nice addition. Horizon 4 has it, why not NFS? One manufacturer sorely missing since 2013 is Bugatti. People might be a bit tired of the Veyron (I still love it, and it would still be variety), so if the Veyron doesn't return, what about the Chiron? Maybe not the 304mph version, but the more standard 249mph one. Moving toward more affordable options, lets bring back a few NFS classics. The Infiniti G35 is in the game as a traffic car, how about we see it return to the driveable roster? Then there's the Dodge lineup. We have a classic Charger and a modern Challenger, but not a modern Charger and a classic Challenger. New Chargers seem to be something Ghost is afraid of. They're in the game as a cop car, and a driveable non-cop Charger SRT8 is hidden in the files. Maybe it is due for release, but as a fan of the new Charger, its absence from the roster is unfortunate. And don't get me started on the RX-8. Speaking of hidden cars, the Ford Crown Victoria and the three remaining hero cars are in the files, but not obtainable through legitimate means. It sucks as far as the hero cars are concerned, as Papi's Camaro and Ana's 350Z have unique parts that can't be obtained on the standard versions. There's also the cop cars which I wish were available through a Be the Cop mode, something I felt Heat should have had in the first place. Finally, I'd like to see the Aston Martin DB9/DBS make a return. The DB11 is butt ugly AFAIC, and I want to make a proper replica of Ronnie's DB9. Hell, some new legend edition cars would be nice (Kenji's RX-7, Earl's Evo, Nate Denver's GTO). CUSTOMISATION I like the visual customisation in Heat, but I feel like it's lacking compared to earlier titles. Heat owes a lot to Carbon, which introduced proper custom visuals, but Carbon does still do a few things better. Heat separates the car into different sections, which is good, but is limiting and frustrating sometimes. In Carbon, a single decal could be stretched to cover the entire car if you so wished. Try to do the same thing in Heat however, and the decal gets stopped at the boundary of the section you started on, it doesn't flood onto the hood for example. This means you then have to switch to the other sections of the car in order to continue your work, having to place the exact same decals, even though you've set the groundwork for the wrap on the adjacent section. I feel like we should at least have the option for decals to flood onto adjacent surfaces if we wish to save some time. Another time saving feature is same surface mirroring. Carbon offered a live mirror of the decal you were placing, which saved a lot of time and effort if putting decals onto the hood or roof. In Heat, you have to have to make the mirror yourself, taking twice as much time to complete. One last convenience feature is selecting rims for all wheels. ProStreet and Undercover were the first to allow you to select different rims for different wheels, but still allowed you to select rims for all wheels. With heat, you can only select rims by front wheels and rear wheels, not all wheels at once. There are plenty of hidden vanity items sitting around being unused. The lack of nitrous colours is annoying, having just four colours, red, green, blue (which is pointless seeing as nitrous is already blue) and rainbow, which is either just white, or bugged and only shows white. Some yellow, pink or purple nitrous would be nice. There's also hidden parts that should be made available. For example, the 90's NSX still has the Kakimoto bodykit from 2015 in the files, but you can't obtain it legitimately. Maybe it's a licence thing, but then why is it in the game if Ghost doesn't have the licence? Some external blowers for the muscle cars would be great, like what Papi's Camaro has. A blower on the Charger would look phenomenal. Why do we not have any? The final bit on customisation I have is actually to do with the Community Wraps menu. When sorting by Most Recent, it doesn't actually sort by Most Recent. I know this because wraps I've published have been all the way down the list in 60th, whilst something from mid-November is in 1st. The point of most recent is to show the most recent first, and if something published yesterday is showing below an older wrap from November, then it's not working. CAR BALANCE Last thing about cars, I swear. First and foremost, the thing everyone has on their mind: NERF THE BLOODY RSR. This decrepit 70's Porsche has been the best car to use for 4 years now. And it's even more OP in Heat, being up to 8 seconds faster than the next fastest cars, the F40 and Huayra, using an engine that is supposedly worse than the most expensive engine swap available to it. After that, you can focus on the super expensive cars. I give the Regera a lot of crap, and I've been giving it a whole lot more when mine got beaten by a Volvo 242. What's the point of buying these super expensive cars, when much cheaper options outperform them? EVERYTHING ABOUT RACES Races are fun. But at this point they're starting to become a little tedious for me. There are plenty of races that just aren't worth running in my opinion, thanks in part to the minuscule cash/rep reward. Noobaround for example. A simple 3 lap circle. Max reward of $10k and one single difficulty level. What's the point? I'd like a bit more variety, you can only run Dex's four highway sprints and Ray of Light so much before you start to get bored. What I propose is an extra difficulty level for many races, with some races offering a third difficulty level. In order to make the larger cash/rep reward feel worth it, extra laps could be implemented. The aforementioned Noobaround with a recommended performance level of 400+ and 10 or more laps should make a larger cash reward of say $50k, feel a lot more worth the time to do that what it currently has. This obviously doesn't quite work for sprint races, so harder AI will likely have to do. A few notes on AI, they tend to get in the way when you're lapping them. There's one AI in the offroad races, Cul-de-Zak, who takes part in the 290 rated Triplex Special in a 190 rated Volvo. He's too slow, and more than once he's wrecked a race by forming a mobile chicane. And then there's the start of the race. you always start at the back of the field, so you have to pass them. I'd like the option to race a track without the AI being there, similar to 2015's Prestige mode (I believe my friends call this idea Speedlists?). Racing a track with no AI, and solid barriers the entire distance to stop you from shortcutting, a true checkpoint race, is something I want. We have a night time Goliath event, Discovery. I'd like a Daytime Goliath as well, perhaps the four highway sprints morphed together, or Discovery run in the daytime. Speaking of Discovery, before we move onto night events, it's the longest race in the game, at least 7 minutes. But the reward it gives is about the same as Maori Venture, which is abut 4 minutes. It deserves a bit more rep reward owing to its length. Though currently, a common complaint is the uselessness of night races once you reach rep level 50, crew level 50 and have unlocked all ultimate parts. Rep gathering serves no function right now. There needs to be an incentive to continue doing them. I have no doubt Ghost is already working on such an incentive, but it better be good. I have no ideas on how to improve this aside from a cash reward. The last thing about races I can think of: we need more event types. Drag tyres exist in game, but they are currently functionless. There are no drag events. So Drag races are one additional race type. Another is speedtrap. First introduced in OG Most Wanted, I don't believe we've seen this mode since 2012, in bad Criterion Most Wanted. It makes perfect sense to add this to at least the night time roster. Feel free to mention any other race types you'd like to see. EDIT: lap knockout! Classic mode. MAP FIXES There should be solid barriers in some places. If you make a mistake in some races, you are punished severely by being thrown off a cliff, or into a body of water. At the end of the highway straight of Columbia, there is even a jump ramp, which if you make one small mistake, or your car refuses to work how you want it, you can go flying off this ramp and have your entire race ruined. This will probably be a more controversial idea, but having been raised on the Black Box titles which had entirely solid barriers, the lack of such barriers is still rather jarring to me. I don't think we've had solid race barriers since The Run in 2011. Kerbs are psychopaths. You can drive over one fine one minute, then the next time you drive over it, it sends you flying, or does damage to your car. There's one on Ray of Light by the second gas station, that if you cut the corner, can have you doing barrel rolls, or shooting 50 feet up in the air. Other times I've driven through a gas station at a reasonable speed to repair, and then instantly been damaged by a kerb right outside that normally shouldn't damage you at all. There was a post here the other day of someone being wrecked on one of these gas station kerbs that shouldn't damage you at all. At least two gas stations have bugged detection zones. One has too large of a zone, leaking onto the road a little. I've driven past this station, just barely skimming the kerb, and its repaired me. The other station seems to have detection that's much too small. Driving on J. Storm with a critically damaged car, I've driven through this station, only for it not to repair me. I later determined that driving right next to the shop building will repair you. EDIT: The apron at the raceway. Most times you go over it's fine. Other's you'll go flying. And that's everything on my list. Sorry for the colossal read, but I love this game, and I really want the best for it. Hopefully I've at least made a lick of sense as well. Thanks for reading. Why is rep earned for the night not the same when night ended? Posted: 06 Jan 2020 09:04 PM PST Got away from 3 cops and the top graphic showed 15k rep earned for the night yet when i got to my garage and "night ended" it only showed 14K and change. Why doesn't it match what it showed I earned for the night? [link] [comments]

How exactly do engine swaps work in Heat? Posted: 06 Jan 2020 10:29 PM PST I honestly have no idea how this thing works. I have absolutely 0 knowledge on cars either, so all these random 3.5l and whatnot numbers just confuse me (i usually just play NFS for that hint of nostalgia, as I had MW and Carbon on my old gamecube as a kid.), and I usually just go with the last engine, but I notice it doesnt max out. I'm at endgame and level 50, and my NSX '17 only goes up to 390 at most. Which engine should I be using, and how do I decide which engine to use on a car? What exactly do the numbers in the engine's name mean? [link] [comments]
