    The Final Update Discussion

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 08:20 AM PDT

I want to put my 2 cents in about the final update for Heat and I have to say, this is extremely disappointing. I love Heat as a base game but the content is sparce. And now we get Crossplay which we all knew was coming at some point. Hearing the Need for Speed Heat is no longer being supported is absolutely appalling. The amount of hidden cars in the game and numerous rumors and ideas are immense and this is what we get? One new car, large amounts of bug fixes, a Hero Car that should've been there AT LAUNCH, barely any PvP, and with the promise of LIVE SERVICE. A lot of false promises and hidden files. Sure Crossplay is awesome but is that really it? What happened to the creativity and love for this game? I'm kind of pissed that this is the end.

Need for Speed Heat - June Update - Update Notes

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 07:00 AM PDT

    Hello there!

It's been a while since you've seen update notes, but before we jump into the details, here's a little overview.

The team has been working hard on finalizing the June update, and we're happy to announce it will be released tomorrow, June 9. It addresses the missing vanity items for 100%ing the game and you should encounter DR1005 less often.

We're also thrilled to announce that cross-play is coming to Need for Speed Heat, allowing you to cruise Palm City with your friends, regardless of platform.

It's been quite a packed week for Need for Speed, and we have published an article on our website that tells you everything you need to know beyond the update notes. Absolutely recommend to give it a read.

For tomorrow, we switched up the order in which the update is released across platforms. This time we'll be starting with Xbox, followed by PlayStation and then PC (both Steam and Origin). You can find more info about estimated file sizes and the timing at the end of this post.

Now let's jump into the update notes, starting with the newest addition: Cross-play!

    Update Notes

    Cross-play

Once you've installed the June update, you will be prompted with the option to activate cross-play, which you can later find in the privacy settings in the game menu. Opting in will allow you to race players across PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on the same server.

You can search for friends in the Find Players menu. Head over to the Party Menu and check the new EA Friends tab to see who's online across all platforms. In order to create a party and invite friends to your game, they naturally need to opt in for cross-play as well.

While driving around, you will see icons next to players' names, indicating which platform they're playing on, and you can use the proximity voice chat to talk to them.

You'll likely have a bunch of questions, so here's a few answers upfront:

How do I add friends from other platforms?

    • Once you've installed the update, you can opt in to race players across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Search for your friends who are playing on any of the above hardware (given they've opted in for cross-play as well) in the Find Players menu.

Where do I see my cross-platform friends?

    • To see who's online, go to the new EA Friends tab in the Party Menu and invite them to play!

Can I share wraps across platforms?

    • We're laying the groundwork for cross-play with NFS Heat and we will build on it in the future. When driving around Palm City, you will see the wraps of drivers from other platforms, but wrap sharing is restricted to your own platform.

Can I join a crew on another platform?

    • You can drive around Palm City with friends that are in crews on other platforms, but crews can only consist of players of the same platform.

You'll likely have more questions, and I'll happily edit this post to add the most common ones.

    General Fixes

    • Improved cop car logic to reduce occurrences where cop cars significantly reduced player car health in one hit.
    • Some cops would behave very passive while in a pursuit and not perform maneuvers to stop your car. They should now be more motivated to take you down as long as they're actively pursuing you. This is no overall buff or nerf of the cops, it just affected a small percentage of cop cars that were pursuing, but not engaging.
    • We fixed an issue where some rewards didn't trigger correctly when hitting 100% of collectables. You should now receive the vanity items Rainbow Nitrous, Black Tire Smoke and the "If you're happy and you know it" horn.
    • Made a few tweaks so you should encounter error DR1005 less often.
    • Similarly, the probability of inventory synchronization errors has been significantly reduced.

    Visual

    • When rushing through the tunnel in Mendoza Keys, you should no longer encounter solid walls popping in.
    • Fixed an issue that could cause vegetation to appear on roads when choosing low and medium graphic settings and using a specific video card.
    • The 'Racer Challenges' in the garage should no longer be displayed after reaching Rep level 50.
    • The 'Rival Crews' menu is no longer visible in the main menu when you boot the game while offline.
    • Fixed an issue where a time trial wouldn't show any ghost car when you started it.
    • After driving to a time trial starting point, looking at the leaderboard panel should no longer be blank.
    • A specific beanie was only visible from close range, now it can also be seen from afar.

    Audio

    • Cops will now refer to the McLaren P1 GTR correctly in cop chatter.

    World

    • Reworked train wagon collision models in Fort Callahan to prevent your car becoming stuck under them.
    • We took a closer look at a few spots where cop cars could drive on the bottom of the ocean or riverbed. Their cars should now get wrecked as intended, and while they're busy with their own cars, they should no longer be busting you.

    Cars

    • Added a sound system interaction point for the Aston Martin Vulcan '16.
    • All colors should now be displayed correctly when using specific paints on the side of the Chevrolet Camaro Z28.
    • Decal interaction points for the Lamborghini Aventador S '18 and the Roadster variant now work as intended.
    • The second set of stock rims now is aligned with the tires of the Land Rover Defender 110 '15.
    • Added a sound system interaction point for the Land Rover Defender 110 '15.
    • When using the wide Porsche rear fender on the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 2.8, aftermarket tail light tints should now be displayed correctly.
    • The Alchemist rear bumper for the Ford Mustang '65 is now displayed correctly.
    • Decals applied to the Varis front bumper of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX '07 will no longer vanish when accelerating.
    • You can now purchase the stock spoiler for the Nissan 180SX starter car.
    • The model of the Porsche Cayman GT4 2015 now has the spoiler equipped that is displayed in the dealership icon.
    • Added missing sound system interaction point to the Volkswagen Golf GTI '76.
    • Added missing sound system interaction point to the Volkswagen Beetle '63.

    Events

    • The AI drivers would follow interesting routes in a handful of races. We took a look and they should now stick to the racing line.
    • Fixed an issue that could occur when you restarted a time trial after finishing it for the first time and beating the ghost's time. The UI could behave in a way that would display the ghost from the first time trial run, while you were actually competing against the next best time. That could lead to situations where you thought you beat the opponent, but you also didn't. This should no longer occur, and the ghost that you see is the one your time will be measured against.
    • When completing the 'Picknick' time trial and coming in second, you should now receive the correct amount of Bank.
    • You should now be able to restart the 'Upload' mission as intended.

We also improved overall stability and fixed rare instances where the game would crash or hang.

    Release Timing - June 9

    • Xbox One - 7:00 UTC
    • PS4 - 8:00 UTC
    • PC - 9:00 UTC (Origin / Steam)

    Estimated File Sizes

    • Xbox One - 6.90 GB
    • PS4 - 7.16. GB
    • PC - 1.10 GB

So long, and thank you for all the passion you're showing the NFS franchise,

    - Max

    TFW NFS Heat just... dies

    Today's update in a nutshell

Here, take this image I found on twitter

    This Game is now dead.

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 10:40 AM PDT

Well, there go our hopes for at least the 2 new KS cars:/....

If we were to get a Euro Car Pack DLC, this is my concept.

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:24 AM PDT

    Just like old times.

Confirmation by ea that criterion is already working on the next nfs title

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 09:17 AM PDT

Should Tobey Marshall (Need For Speed 2014 movie) be in the next Need For Speed game at least as a cameo role?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 11:06 AM PDT

So since crossplay is now being added into heat I made this to celebrate it.

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 12:07 AM PDT

Don’t hate on me for saying The Truth ...

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 10:45 AM PDT

Which is : they released a so called AAA game in Heat that makes your car fly when pushing hard to be competitive for 60€ ( sorry Ghost, clearly the statement from months ago clarified the lack of talent ), they released "Keys To The Map" for 4,99€ and they released a sort of DLC or call it whatever you want including a car and a bunch of races that yeah, anyways, for 4,99€ IF I remember everything correctly because I uninstalled the game months ago. They got the money and moved on, if that isn't EA at its finest, I don't know what it is.

RIP the people who pre-ordered the game as well and the people who paid for the stuff they released hoping giving them money, they will give you content in return.

Name a better duo than EA and ruining franchises, from Battlefield & Battlefront to NFS and FIFA.

The competition isn't an angel either ( TC2 & FH4 ) but goddamn they're miles away from NFS in terms of everything, quote me on this, but this is my feeling when jumping between games today and this is the fucking saddest part as NFS back in the days was the king nobody could even dream of matching, but yeah, you better hope Criterion can save this dead sinking ship.

Also, reminder that Payback was considered a "video game."

    Directed at EA Games

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 05:57 PM PDT

Thanks EA for rising to the occasion when everyone said Payback was the worst....you have now made Heat the worst (imo).

So I'm gonna start by offering advice on how to keep your playerbase then I'll rant about how you messed up a potentially amazing game.

How to fix this (potentially): offer every player who bought the game (before the final update) the deluxe version or pass or whatever special stuff you do for the next game on launch to make up for this lack of content and care. It won't fix Heat, but maybe it'll save you guys from losing a vast majority of your playerbase.

Now to the complaining: maybe 5 people in this world are looking forward to crossplay...what a waste of time and talent to release this as the last update...thanks.

Three cars? That's it? Three cars???

    No custom Races?

    No Speedwall?

No content of any kind for story continuation

No additional content directed at different race types

Horrible server system where your server shuts down at anytime (so dumb)

Horrible cop AI (if you know what to do, you can make it so you never get busted)

Horrible traffic AI (what's with the turning cars just stopping in the middle of the intersection)

And I'm gonna say it and some may not agree, but catering to youth culture isn't a sure fire way of making a relatable game. The story was pure crap, the characters lacked any substance yet you continue to parley the characters into everyday driving in the game (like I give a shit that those chicken burger things gave her diarrhea, funny the first time, annoying the next 7,372 times).

I'd be willing to bet a majority of continually active players have been playing NFS for over a decade and with each release that gets pushed out, the stories keep getting worse and worse and we are noticing. These stories need to be more involved if you are going to keep pushing narrative driven NFS titles. Or just get rid of the fucking story and do it like you used to within Shift and the older titles.

Now I did have fun with the game while the content was fresh but mother of god did it decline in fun or replayability(?) after about a month. The McLaren F1 was nice but not enough.

I hate to sound so negative over a game but I used to love the NFS series; y'all have broken my heart.

And to Criterion if you see this: stand up to EA and make the game you want, I have complete faith in you!! I'm

My wishlist for the next NFS (can’t believe I’m already doing this sh*t)

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 11:36 AM PDT

To Criterion, My only request is that you actually provide some goddamn post-release support this time instead of what y'all and Ghost did to Heat 😐 was mad hard defending that game and for nothing.

Imagine, making another NFS game and belive that people will fall for it again.

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 11:35 PM PDT

Doesnt matter to me, if this is Criterion or Ghost or God knows who making another NFS game, this is the biggest dissapointment I had in many years and I honestly regret my decision buying this game. Thank you EA for this cash- grab, what one of Ghost dev promised us and what we get. 5$ for two re- used cars and some map keys that unlocks collectives after 3 months of premiere? Im not falling for this again and so I belive people will remember this too for long time.

    NFS Heat Engine Swap problems?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2020 10:43 PM PDT

(TLDR at the end) This is a rant about engine swap system and also if possible any help.

I started playing the game few days ago and I wanted to make sleeper Chevy Bel Air.

First thing that I got blocked with was the level requirements for new engines. So I tried to find alternative ways to swap the engine, it was a horrible decision.

I bought 2 cars (I was level 20~ ish rep now I am 28) to remove their engine and put it into the Chevy. My first choice was Nissan GTR which was one of the best engine that were compatible and accessible. I removed the engined swapped to Bel Air and bam there was nothing in the inventory then I thought "huh this is weird is it because it is a forged engine?". Then I started searching the mighty google and I found... nothing.

So I thought well maybe I looked up the engine specs wrong so I will try to get a different car and triple check the engine compability. I followed the same steps, grind the money, buy the car(Aston Martin DB11 '17 155k), grind more to buy a seperate engine to swap with the car(Which was 185k), swap the engine with the purchased one, change the car to Bel Air, check the inventory.. nothing. Then I turned backed to google once again. Everything that I saw wasnt saying that I dont need a donor car, they sounded like I may buy the car or buy the engine.

Well I was wrong, all those hours to grind up level and money (Total of about 700k and 8~ levels) was just a waste and I could have just bought a hybrid, off road and a all around car..

Is there anything I can do about this or just stock engines are not swappable?

TL;DR: Bought 2 cars to swap engines with bel air, turns out I cannot use stock engines, I guess.

“More NFS and Steam announcements.” Could this also mean they plan to bring older (hint classic + golden era) NFS titles to Steam?
