Should NFS Branch Out To International Locales? (Ex: Europe)

Should NFS Branch Out To International Locales? (Ex: Europe)

For over more than a decade of games, the NFS series has been primarily focused on providing arcade racing experiences in fictional, but American style cities.

Whether it's the damp urban feel of 2015, the open-world variety of Fairhaven/Seacrest County or the heat of Palm City, most NFS games have had a North American flair to them. The only games that heavily bucked this trend were some of the earliest classic titles.

    Hills of Eastern Norway

Which brings about the question, do you think that NFS should consider branching out and diversifying it's locales to more international destinations? Like Europe, Japan, etc?

There are definitely arguments to be made for it as:

    • It'd allow for a unique feel for a next-generation NFS title by giving players a world map style that they haven't experienced before;
    • A large portion of the NFS fanbase isn't even based in North America. It could very well prove economically beneficial to choose a setting that best speaks to these fans; and
    • There's a lot of exciting locales that the USA simply can't provide. Just off the top of my head, consider the beautiful vistas of Southern Italy or the winding mountain roads of Japan, its loop bridges, etc. (Of course with urban settings as the primary backdrop that is)

On the other hand, one could argue that there's still plenty of uniquely American cities that still haven't been fully explored as settings for NFS games such as Chicago or Detroit. So what are your thoughts? Do you think NFS should broaden its horizons?

What game should i pick: forza horizon 4 or need for speed

    Posted: 11 May 2020 09:03 PM PDT

I never truly got into any car game or racing game except for need for speed (2015) but i am really looking into it (after watching cars and fast and furious and also a montage of a hudson hornet in forza 4 at the sound of sh-boom) so i was really looking into need for speed heat because since i am planning to get origin access premier i could play it and other games however i could also pick forza horizon

About the cars since i am not an expert or anything (just know popular brands like ferrari and the delorean) both games seem to have a similar car catalogue but i am more interested in the game where old cars are more present like a bel air and stuff like that

About gameplay i really enjoy a more realistic approach but without it being to much realistic. I think both of them are pretty similar in gameplay with forza being a little more realistic

And about the thing that is the most important for me. Its the customization more specifically the appearance of the car. I really enjoyed the customization founded in need for speed (2015) it was very diverse and i enjoyed it and i was wondering which game has the most diverse and fun customization

Anybody still active online on NFS Heat? (PC)

    Posted: 11 May 2020 07:11 PM PDT

Been playing a lot of Heat lately with quarantine looming over our shadow and was wondering if anybody actually does car meets and stuff like that? I was even trying to find a crew since I'm literally the only one active in the one I was automatically placed in and now looking for a new one. It'd be cool if anybody wants to play w me. I'm on PC (username: Hobithy)

    Thinking of buying NFS Heat

    Posted: 11 May 2020 11:50 PM PDT

Hi guys, I've been thinking of buying the game, despite the negative reviews of NFS Payback, I actually quite enjoy it. I occasionally play Horizon 4, and have played for about 70-90 hours of it. My question is, how long have you played the game? Is it worth the money/playtime and fun ratio? Thanks!

Are there any rumors about the upcoming need for speed title?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 11:19 PM PDT

I haven't really made the jump to heat as I've seen play throughs and such and don't know if it's actually worth the purchase tbh so I've been playing payback ever since. But recently I've been starting to get bored as I've literally done everything you can do in game including all the trophies. So now I'm wondering if there are any rumors about the upcoming NFS title or any hints

NFSU2 is not as good as I remember

    Posted: 11 May 2020 07:21 AM PDT

Decided to replay Underground 2 during quarantine time. All the memories I had were amazing. 15-year old me played this game to exaustion when it was released and I remember this as being the pinnacle of racing games. More than 15 years later I realized that there are some big problems with the game. First of all, f*** Jackson Heights. Seriously, every race/event there is boring. Having to drive all the way up for one single event is just painful. Second the AI. The rubberbanding is too evident. It doesn't matter if you drive perfectly or badly, your opponents will be roughly at the same distance. Even when you spin your opponents at the end of the last lap it's guaranteed they will finish close to you And the mandatory customisation. You have to build up at least one car "star". This means that late in the game all you have is a car full of carbon fiber parts, weird looking spoilers an roof scoops and an unnecessary and ugly spinner in the wheels. All said, there are still some weirdnesses in the game, like the city map. Too bumpy, it seems to be made on purpose but on every race you are sent flying, cinematic camera on and you have no idea where you are going to land (most of the time losing the control of the car). But it is still a decent game tho, not the best one.

Forza Horizon 3 wasn´t really doing it for me so I bought Need for Speed Heat because I need my arcade racing fix, enjoying the hell out of it!

    Posted: 11 May 2020 02:42 AM PDT

This game does everything right IMO: great arcadey fast feeling racing, tons of customization options, really cool and fun map, great progession system, the car handling just feels really good, the jumps with cars feel fantastic and exhilerating, the cop chases are pretty badass, the car selection is varied and nice, the day and night system is interesting...having an absolute blast with this.

I just couldn´t handle Forza Horizon3´s driving. Thought every car weighed a ton and just wasn´t fun and arcadey enough to control for an arcade racer. Every car spinned out of control so fast.

"NFS: Heat" is a banger/ Custom race ratings as a final update?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 06:58 AM PDT

So, I recently just steamrolled through NFS heat. Made it to level 50 and beat the story. And I can say it is undoubtedly my favorite racer this generation.

At first I was a little bit thrown off by the seemingly short experience. Then I realized that it was a playground type deal.

With that mentality I'm enjoying the game even more in the "end game." (Can you call it that? feels more apt to call it "Post game")

I think the ONLY thing I could want out of this game, maybe a last update type of deal (because I know this game isn't really getting updates or something like that.) Is the ability to set the race rating yourself. Sorta like how the high heat ratings work. So i can race my 240 rating car down discovery. (Yes I know that every car can be pushed to the 400 ball park with engine swaps and the like but I love keeping the identity of the car in tact/ racing at different speeds)

I love this game and what it's trying to do.

Original music makes the games sometimes

    Posted: 11 May 2020 04:49 AM PDT

So I recently replayed the run and I just have to say, the original soundtrack is amazing, yes in the new games we have cool songs on the radio, but for future releases I feel as if less or no radio soundtrack would be nice, instead implementing the orchestra and original score like that of nfs the run, the songs in the run just pushed me to my limits, especially the make up time song. And the dramatic music made the game feel as if it were life or death. As well as having dynamic music is amazing. And I miss that experience. How do any of you people feel about it?

Hello searching member for a crew on ps4 I’m on road to 50, already 47, the crew name is NSD RACING (NSDR) I’m active and will be 48 soon, just a little bit of help and we will be 50

My game crashes and my PS4 nearly goes up in flames

    Posted: 11 May 2020 03:09 PM PDT

I just entered a safe house after unlocking 2 parts and then my game just freezes, after waiting 2 minutes I try to close my game but instead that freezes too and my PS4 starts getting really loud. I felt the top of the os4 and it was at least 70+ Celsius. Anyways I reset my PS4 and I probably won't get my parts.

Which NFS game that is available on PS4 has the best online multiplayer?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 02:14 PM PDT

My father, sister, wife and I all play PS4 together.

We really want a racing game BUT don't know which NFS to choose. Something that is simple and doesn't have so many mechanics. I see NFS and a Rivals version though I can't make a choice. Thank you y'all.

    NFS Heat Playlist

    Posted: 11 May 2020 10:01 AM PDT

I was actually rocking this playlist since last year because I didn't like the in-game music. I decided to share and maybe improve it with your help. I stuck to songs released the same year of the game release and to keep mixed genres similar to NFS Payback because I really enjoyed that playlist. I was going for the kind of feel that you want for different style races and for different times of day when selecting songs. Let me know if I should make this playlist in other services as well. Have a good one.

    NFS Heat on a G27?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 12:45 PM PDT

Did anyone get heat to properly work on a g27? The Logitech software that good said was required only supports g29 and there's no mention of g27 anywhere.

Also, for wheels are controls not mappable like controller?
