Need For Speed Underground 2 Handling?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 01:20 AM PDT

I wanted to upgrade the handling on my Celica. At the Beacon Hill Performance ship I can get the street package tires and it makes my handling bar go down. Does it matter as much for the handling bar to be up or down? Or does having it lower actually mean your handling is worse?

For every new car in the lots the handling is always more and more so I assume that you want everything to be high as possible (obviously acceleration and top speed you want high)

So does that mean it would be better for me to skip on the tires if it makes my handling go down?

What game is the most similar to NFS Porsche?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2020 02:44 PM PDT

NFS Porsche is still my favorite racing game of all time. The stylish approach to classic cars, and fantastic journey through decades of models and racing technology, made for an amazing experience I still cherish. And although it's still possible to crank the old thing to life, the game is now some 20 years old and it's starting to feel just a little bit dated.

So I've searched and searched to find a newer racing game that's even half as entertaining, but keep coming up empty. But maybe someone here has any ideas?

What I'm looking for is a single player PC game that has:

    1. A long campaign mode where you slowly progress through acquiring better parts and unlocking new cars, all of which are finely balanced so that you actually notice tiny differences with each new conquest.
    2. A whole bunch of very varied tracks through vastly different environments, different times of the year and times of the day (so not only through a neon city at night). Preferably long tracks which take you from A to B (and not just going around in circles). And if there's also some alternative routes which enables you to take short cuts here and there, then all the better.
    3. A fairly easy arcade handling, where you can use walls and obstacles to bounce off of without wiping out completely.
    4. Cars that retains damage which you have to pay to fix. (This was a huge part of what made NFS Porsche so much fun, as reckless driving could win you huge rewards, but a major crash could also push you down so that you had to grind a bit to climb back up again)
    5. No open world crap where you have to drive around to search for silly people to talk to and stupid missions where you rob banks and steal stuff. I'm so sick and tired of all that Fast & Furious inspired "über cool" wannabe gangster bullshit where you play an undercover cop who ends up with getting the girl. Bah.

The only game that I've found to come close so far, is surprisingly NFS The Run. I was thrilled to find that it actually featured some tracks which were so similar to those of NFS Porche, that they must either be made by some of the same people, or perhaps were meant as homages...? But sadly, the game was also bugged down by a bunch of problems, most notably just the kind of Fast & Furious crap I detest, with extremely annoying cut scenes that were of course unskippable, rather short tracks, terrible music, and crucial problems with gamepad controls.

So is there any other games out there I should check out? (don't need to be in the NFS franchise)

EDIT: I've played (and loved) older NFS games like High Stakes, but what I'm looking for is a newer game with more up to date graphics.
